RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. — All lanes have have reopened on I-26 East near mile marker 97 after a commercial truck fire closed the interstate for most of the day Monday.

Just before 9 a.m. Monday, South Carolina Highway Patrol reported a vehicle on fire on I-26 eastbound near mile marker 97 in Richland County. That is the Broad River Road/Hwy 176/Peak exit.

Irmo Fire District reported a semi-trailer truck caught fire just past the exit.

Crews from Columbia-Richland Fire, Lexington County Fire, Newberry Fire and Irmo Fire worked for hours to put out the fire and clear the remaining debris.

At 7:23 p.m., the South Carolina Department of Transportation, tweeted that all lanes have been reopened.

No injuries have been reported. There is no word yet on what caused the fire.
